Ford Romania will start in Craiova the production of the Puma SUV and in the version with automatic transmission for the engines with hybrid technology. Until now, the automatic transmission was only available for the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine without the electrical component. It will be available in both 125 hp and 155 hp and is the same seven-speed automatic transmission.
Ford EcoBoost Hybrid technology uses a built-in belt-driven starter / generator (BISG) to recover energy normally lost during braking and to charge a 48-volt lithium-ion battery. BISG also provides torque assistance to the engine to increase its efficiency and performance, depending on driving scenarios.
Torque supplementation is based on the BISG system to increase the total available torque by up to 20 Nm, for better acceleration.
Acceleration for the Puma 1.0 EcoBoost Hybrid 125HP with 7-speed automatic transmission is improved by up to 4% compared to the non-hybrid version.
Puma 1.0-liter EcoBoost Hybrid 155 hp automatic, 7-speed automatic accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 8.7 seconds
In Sport mode, the lower gears of the automatic transmission on the Puma EcoBoost Hybrid respond much more sportily
The Triple-downshifts system allows faster overtaking when drivers need maximum acceleration
The automatic transmission also offers manual speed selection mode, with sport paddles at the wheel, for Puma ST-Line X and ST-Line Vignale models
The torque replacement system uses BISG technology to provide up to 24 Nm of additional torque, but with improved fuel efficiency. The combination of EcoBoost Hybrid and the seven-speed automatic transmission is particularly suitable for the city, where frequent stops allow for regular energy capture and redistribution.
Puma EcoBoost Hybrid and Fiesta EcoBoost Hybrid automatic models are expected to help improve CO2 emissions by up to 5% compared to the equivalent of 1.0-liter petrol EcoBoost
The Ford Puma EcoBoost Hybrid and Fiesta EcoBoost Hybrid are two of the 17 electrified vehicles Ford is introducing to Europe before the end of this year.
