CABO CAÑAVERAL, Florida, USA (AP) – One astronaut American says he has no doubts about traveling on a Russian rocket next month, despite two consecutive incidents.
The astronaut of the NASA Anne McClain said Friday that space flights are never 100% safe and it is a coincidence that the last two Soyuz missions at the Space Station had problems.
Last month, the astronauts had to make an emergency landing after a failed launch. A month earlier, a loss of air in the station was attributed to a mysterious hole made in an attached Soyuz capsule.
McClain is getting ready to go on December 3 for his mission, along with a Russian and a Canadian. He says his family is used to the risks of his job, given his experience in combat flights for the army.
He said he wants to teach his son and other children that sacrifices are necessary to make dreams come true.
