The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Wednesday that, during the last 24 hours, 419 deaths and 14,392 new positive cases from coronavirus were registered. With these data, the total number of infected throughout the country amounts to 751,001 and the fatal victims total 16,937. It is the record of infections for a day.
As for the deaths, 218 are men and 201 women. A woman residing in the province of Buenos Aires was reclassified. Of the total deaths reported by the province of Buenos Aires yesterday (12,946), 2,993 cases are pending upload in the National Health Surveillance System (SNVS).
Of the 419 deaths reported during this day, only 34 are from yesterday. 124 occurred more than a month ago and 64 were in July.
Of the 14,392 cases, 5,943 are from the province of Buenos Aires, 898 from the city of Buenos Aires, 8 from Catamarca, 157 from Chaco, 156 from Chubut, 1,718 from Córdoba, 20 from Corrientes, 177 from Entre Ríos, 25 from La Pampa, 126 from La Rioja, 691 from Mendoza, 9 from Misiones, 192 from Neuquén, 369 from Río Negro, 360 from Salta, 2 from San Juan, 131 from San Luis, 145 from Santa Cruz, 2.017 from Santa Fe, 96 from Santiago del Estero, 256 from Tierra del Fuego and 739 from Tucumán.
In the last 24 hours, 25,072 tests were carried out and since the beginning of the outbreak, 1,951,789 diagnostic tests for this disease were carried out, which is equivalent to 43,013 samples per million inhabitants.
The Ministry of Health reported this Wednesday morning a daily average of 12,062 cases of coronavirus in the last seven days, with a mortality rate of 364 people per million inhabitants and a fatality rate of 2.2% on confirmed cases, while a “slight” trend of increase in the “high plateau” of cases that is registered in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) was pointed out.
The federal report was led by Carla Vizzotti, Secretary of Access to Health of the Nation, who remarked that in the AMBA there is a high plateau that in the last week has had a slight upward trend.
“We are watching the curve of the AMBA very closely and we are remembering and working hard on individual recommendations, protocols and care to maintain stability and be able to lower the trend and continue with the plan to reactivate activities,” said the official.
In a context where Community transmission was verified in four new locations (San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca and the capital of San Luis, Villa Mercedes and Tilsarao, towns in the latter province), the Ministry of Health sent teams of professionals and materials to different jurisdictions such as Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz, Chaco and Corrientes.
On the other hand, Vizzotti provided statistical details on the incidence of the coronavirus in pregnant people. In this regard, he said that as of September 28, 10,078 suspected cases had been detected, of which 3,799 were confirmed and 2,733 patients were reported as recovered. Further, the death of 12 pregnant people was reported, which yields a fatality of 0.45%.
According to the ages of the cases, 232 are between 10 and 19 years old, 1,773 between 20 and 29, 1,530 between 30 and 39, and 264 cases are over 40 years old. 2.1% of these cases required admission to intensive care and the most frequent symptoms were cough, headache, sore throat, fever, loss of smell and body pain
On people who develop the disease in critical care units throughout the country, 46% are in the AMBA, 21.9% in Córdoba and 5.8% in Salta.
The occupation of intensive care beds, regardless of the illness that explains the hospitalization of the patient, nationwide average 61.9%, while in Río Negro it is 89% and in Salta and Mendoza it is 81%.
The index that measures the relationship between tests carried out and positives detected was an average 55% yesterday for the entire country; 46% for the city of Buenos Aires, 47.4% in the AMBA and 61.4% in the rest of the country.
