Coronavirus in Mexico: exceeds half a million infections and adds 55,293 deaths

This August 13, day 75 of the New Normal, the general director of Epidemiology, José Luis Alomy Zegarra, reported that Mexico exceeded half a million accumulated infections, that is, a total of 505,751 cases and 55,293 deaths confirmed by the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

From the National Palace he pointed out that it is estimated that there are 43,873 active patients, that is, they presented symptoms in the last 14 days, which represents people who potentially contribute to the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

There are also 2,365 suspected deaths that could add to the total in the next 24 hours. Also, they have been counted 553,219 negative cases, 83,075 suspects and 341,507 patients recovered.

The official explained that of the 31,759 general hospital beds counted at the national level, 40% (12,611) are employed and the 60% are available (19,148). The states with the lowest percentage of beds available are: Nuevo León, Nayarit, Colima and Coahuila.

Of the 10,687 beds with fan, to care for patients with severe symptoms of COVID-19, 34% (3,675) are busy and the 66% (7,012) are available. The entities with more occupation of beds of this type are: Colima, Nuevo León, Aguascalientes and Baja California. On the contrary, the states with the most availability of beds are: Chihuahua, Campeche and Sonora.
