COVID-19: Chaudière-Appalaches can breathe a bit

The Chaudière-Appalaches region has just ended its most encouraging week in six months for the transmission of the virus, when only 36 new cases were reported.

With the four additional infections that have been added in the past 24 hours, the average daily reported cases for the past week is 5.6.

We have to go back to the week of August 30 to find such low transmission of the virus. The 40 new cases observed then heralded the very beginning of the second wave.

To date, 11,687 people have contracted the virus in Chaudière-Appalaches, but 69 of them are still considered “active” cases. One more death is to be deplored in the territory, for a total of 288 victims of COVID-19.

North of the river, the situation has also greatly improved, recording 39 new cases yesterday, for a total of 22,414 patients. The 228 additional infections of the last week are also below the total of cases reported between September 6 and 12.

The Capitale-Nationale must however mourn the death of another victim of the coronavirus, bringing the total to 982 since the start of the pandemic. It should also be noted that 296 people are still considered to be “active” carriers of the virus in the region.
