COVID-19 GUM! US scientists developed chewing gum that catches coronavirus – News

The gum that catches the corona has been developed!

US researchers announced that the developed chewing gum contains a protein that traps coronavirus particles and can limit the amount of virus in saliva. It was stated that the gum developed against Covid can prevent the transmission of Covid-19 when infected people are talking, breathing or coughing.

According to the news in the British newspaper Mirror, scientists announced that a new experimental gum can help people protect themselves against Covid-19.

It was stated that the chewing gum, analyzed by a study in the USA, contains a protein that captures coronavirus particles and can limit the amount of virus in the saliva. Researchers said they believe that chewing gum can prevent transmission when infected people are talking, breathing or coughing.

REDUCE VIRUS LOAD BY 95 PERCENT

The gum contains copies of the ACE2 protein found on cell surfaces, which the virus uses as a gateway to enter and infect cells.

Scientists explained that in test-tube experiments using saliva and swab samples from infected people, virus particles bind to ACE2 receptors in the gum.

The research team from the University of Pennsylvania stated that as a result, the virus load in the samples was reduced by 95 percent.

The research team reported that the chewing gum tastes like traditional chewing gums, can be stored for years at normal temperatures, and chewing does not damage ACE2 protein molecules.

The study was published in the journal Molecular Therapy.
