Another 655 people were confirmed infected with the new coronavir virus in Lithuania last day and five deaths caused by Covid-19 were registered, the Statistics Department announced on Monday.

9109 analyzes were performed last day, thus the proportion of positive tests in seven days is 6.2%.

Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 250,377 people have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus in the country, and recovery has been confirmed in 224,942 people.

Covid-19 has claimed a total of 3,956 lives in Lithuania.

Hospitals currently treat 1272 Covid-19 patients, 134 of whom are in intensive care units, 74 patients require artificial ventilation of the lungs, and 1055 patients are treated with oxygen masks.

According to the data of the Department of Statistics, the 14-day cumulative number of infections per 100,000 population on May 2 in Lithuania is 575.3.

A total of 691,403 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in Lithuania, including 304,154 people who have also received a second dose of the vaccine.

Another 179 people were diagnosed with the new coronavir virus in Estonia last day and four deaths from Covid-19 were reported, the Health Department said on Monday.

2924 analyzes were performed last day, thus the proportion of positive tests was 6.1%.

The total number of confirmed infections in Estonia has reached 122,943, and 73,778 people have been confirmed to recover.

A total of 1172 people died in Estonia from Covid-19.

327 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated in hospitals. There are 53 people in intensive care, 41 patients have artificial lung ventilation.

The 14-day cumulative number of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population on May 3, as calculated by the Estonian Department of Health, is 376.61.
