180 new infections within 24 hours: On Thursday Croatia reported a new record of new infections. It was the highest daily value recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
One problem: Many holidaymakers bring an infection back home with them as a holiday souvenir: Corona illnesses increased among holiday returnees in Austria: For example, a cluster of holiday returnees from the coastal town of Makarska was created in Upper Austria; in the Schwaz district there were new cases that can be traced back to a Croatia vacationer from Split, in the whole of Tyrol there are at least 20 imported cases, and diseases popped up in Lower Austria too. In Vienna there is a “rising trend” among travelers returning, the city said.
Resharpenings are being examined
As Health Minister Anschober explained at a press conference on Friday morning, further tightening of travel regulations will be examined in the coming days. First of all, the 282 new infections on Friday will be analyzed. “If we see a need here, we also have to think about tightening it up. Of course also about Croatia.”
Returnees from vacation areas with infections have been a problem for several days. The first results of the analyzes should be available on Friday evening, after which, according to Anschober, a decision will be made on further measures.
