DKI Jakarta Becomes Province with the Highest Covid Cases for a Week

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —

The Covid-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) recorded seven provinces in Indonesia with additional cases Covid-19 above 100 in a week. DKI Jakarta became the highest province with the addition of Covid-19 cases during the period 16-22 November 2021.

The cumulative cases in DKI Jakarta in a week touched 657 cases. Then followed by West Java with 444 cases, Central Java with 212 cases, East Java with 197 cases, and East Nusa Tenggara with 143 cases in a week. Furthermore, 142 cases in DI Yogyakarta, and 131 cases in West Kalimantan.

Meanwhile, in a week 18 provinces recorded additional Covid-19 cases in the range of 10-100 cases. Then 8 provinces recorded the addition of under 10 cases in the last seven days.

The provinces are North Kalimantan with 9 cases, Jambi 8 cases, Southeast Sulawesi 7 cases, West Sulawesi 5 cases. Then 4 cases each occurred in Gorontalo, Maluku, and the Riau Islands, as well as Maluku which recorded 3 cases of Covid-19 in a week.

In addition, Bengkulu is the only province in Indonesia that has zero cases of Covid-19, aka zero cases for a week.

Previously, the government said the number of additional Covid-19 cases in Indonesia had decreased significantly in the last 3-4 months, compared to the peak of Covid-19 cases in July.

In fact, the daily number of additional Covid-19 cases set a record high with 56,757 cases on July 15, 2021.

Compiled from the daily data report of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, the cumulative number of additional Covid-19 cases in a week has also decreased. When compared, in the period 9-15 November there were an additional 2,667 cases. However, in the period of November 16-22, the number of cases fell to 2,522 cases.

Cumulatively, for approximately 20 months of the Covid-19 pandemic infecting Indonesia, there were 4,253,598 people who tested positive for Covid-19.

Of that number, 4,101,889 people have recovered, 7,965 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals and self-isolation, while 143,744 others have died.
