SERDANG, July 13 – The Indonesian worker who accused the writer of violence Paul Yong of Perak is currently entrusted to the care of the Welfare Department, the deputy prime minister said today.
Datuk Seri The dott. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also minister of women, family and community development, said department officials took the migrant worker immediately after submitting the police report against Yong.
"The welfare department has intervened and is now under its care. She is protected and taken care of.
"So there is no problem of negligence because after filing the police report, the police took an immediate action. The member of the assembly was released on bail, but the maid is in the care of the Welfare Department ", said Dr. Wan Azizah.
A representative of the Perak office of the MCA asked the government yesterday about the fate of the alleged rape victim.
The opposition party wondered if the ministry for women, the family and community development and the ministry of the Interior provided assistance to Indonesia even though its accusation was not proven.
Yong, who is the president of Perak Housing and the local government committee, denied the allegations.
The Indonesian domestic worker, who was not appointed, submitted a report against the member of the Tronoh Assembly on July 8th.
