Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Civil Registry) The Ministry of Home Affairs asked the Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta to conduct socialization first before deactivating 200 thousand citizens’ KTPs.

Director General of Dukcapil, Teguh Setyabudi, said that Pemprov DKI Jakarta needs to carry out appropriate and clear socialization, communication, education to all parties, especially to residents of DKI Jakarta.

This step is to provide understanding to residents that the purpose of the policy is to regulate population administration so that the de facto and de jure data match the population documents.

“Data deactivation needs to be focused on residents who are suspected of having a NIK registered in the DKI Jakarta population database, but do not reside in DKI Jakarta. So a process of moving to their actual domicile address needs to be carried out,” said Teguh in a statement, Saturday (6/5) .

DKI is indeed planning to temporarily deactivate the KTPs of residents who are already domiciled outside Jakarta in March 2024. Currently the number has reached around 200 thousand NIK.

This plan is contained in DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary Instruction No. e-00014 of 2023 concerning Temporary Deactivation and Reactivation of NIK and Data Collection for Homecoming in 2023.

Teguh also requested that the Pemprov and DKI Dukcapil be able to provide an explanation to residents whose KTPs are deactivated that they can easily arrange data transfers to their current domicile address without having to return to their area of origin.

This is because this facility has been regulated in Presidential Regulation Number 96 of 2018 and Permendagri Number 108 of 2019.

“It is enough to bring a photocopy of the KK from the area of origin, bring a statement of no objection from the KK owner, if you are traveling with a KK, and fill out form F.1.03,” Teguh explained.

According to Teguh, his party will support and facilitate the process of accelerating population administration services for DKI residents who apply to move domiciles. So, residents are asked not to worry even though their electronic KTP is no longer active.

“The Dukcapil Directorate General of the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Dukcapil Service in DKI to open complaint service posts for residents to clarify regarding the deactivation of this data,” he concluded.
