Schwerin (dpa / mv) – The learning platform “itslearning” for lessons at home collapsed on Tuesday, as it did at the beginning of the school closings in December. Thousands of students were unable to download assignments, send solutions to their teachers, or ask questions.
According to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania’s Ministry of Education, it was a nationwide problem for the provider. “The problems have been fixed by the provider since 12 noon and the system is running stable again,” said Ministry spokesman Christian Moeller in Schwerin. The problems with calling up “itslearning” would have lasted around two hours.
The spokesman emphasized that all areas for which the country was responsible had run stable throughout the day. “After the problems that arose in December, the country significantly increased the capacity of the learning platform.” In December, between 140,000 and 190,000 hits were registered daily. On Monday there were around 250,000 who processed the learning platform without any problems. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, according to the ministry, more than 85,000 students and almost 11,000 teachers have access to “itslearning”.
The opposition left in the state parliament called on the state government to examine whether a central and state-wide uniform learning platform could be implemented. “For this, the server structures of the state and the universities can be integrated and used,” suggested the parliamentary group leader Simone Oldenburg.
