Elderly infected with covid-19 removed from illegal home in Lobão

Several elderly people infected by Covid 19 are being removed from a home in São Martinho de Lobão, in Feira.

“This is an illegal home,” said the president of Câmara da Feira, Emídio Sousa, to JN, stressing that the situation is being monitored by the local authority.

The home had been closed in August 2019 because it was illegal, but has since reopened.

Two of the elderly people removed this Tuesday are bedridden and two others have limited movements. Users will be transported to a home in São João de Ver, “prepared to receive them”, stressed Emídio Sousa.

The infected users are two women, one 65 and 92, and two men, one 68 and 45. The tests were done three weeks ago and confirmed the infection.

The JN found that the owner of the house that welcomes these people claims that she is in a legal situation, stating that she is registered in Finance as a service provider and that, because she has only four users, she will not need other authorizations to carry out this welcoming of users.

“We are closely monitoring the situation, in contact with Social Security, to find a later solution for the elderly”, underlined the Mayor of Feira.

Civil Protection, GNR and firefighters from Arrifana were on site.
