It is in 7th place that the boss of Tesla tumbles into a Top 10 mainly occupied by American billionaires from technological fields.
Credited by the Bloomberg index of billionaires with a heritage of 70.5 billion dollars (62.4 billion euros), up some 43 billion dollars (38 billion euros) in 1 year, Elon Musk is still far from the first 2: Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates. Respectively boss of Amazon and founder of Microsoft, they display assets of 189 (167.3 billion euros) and 116 billion dollars (102.7 billion euros).
But he quickly got closer to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. The enrichment of the latter, evaluated at 93 billion dollars (82 billion euros), experienced a “limited” progression to 14.6 billion dollars (12.9 billion euros) in 1 year.
If the 2 men enjoyed the same trend for July 2021, Elon Musk would take his place at the end of the Top 3 of the richest men in the world.
A scenario that is unlikely to happen, however. The electric car manufacturer has benefited in recent months from a spectacular rise (+ 270%) in Tesla shares, of which it would have a volume of around 20%. A woolen sock which constitutes the most important part of his fortune.
At 49, Elon Musk could also be credited in the wake of another title, that of the highest paid business executive in the world. With remuneration indexed to financial performance, he could receive an envelope of around 600 million dollars (531 million euros) for the 2020 financial year.
