DUBAI, 23rd March / WAM / From 25 to 31 March, Dubai will host the activities of the first edition of the “Dubai Collectibles Nights” initiative, which is managed by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, “Dubai Culture”, in partnership with the “Art Dubai Group”.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Collection is the first-of-its-kind institutional collection of modern and contemporary art for the city of Dubai. And the establishment and consolidation of a culture of collecting art collections in the emirate for a long time.
Mona Faisal Al Gurg, Chairperson of the Dubai Collectibles Organizing Committee and Executive Director of the Culture and Heritage Sector at Dubai Culture, said that the Dubai Collectibles initiative is proud of its role in stimulating and creating a vibrant atmosphere whose features are defined by inspiring cultural expressions. Through a unique and innovative model based on bringing together important artworks from private collections..pointing out that the initiative highlights the diversity of the creative fabric that characterizes Dubai by presenting an ever-evolving collection of artworks that reflect the stories of the city and its people..emphasizing the message of the initiative aimed at Building a community of art patrons committed to providing support and igniting the flame of creativity in the emirate, as the initiative provides a new platform that allows the local public to explore the stories of the artistic group and communicate with members of the creative community, patrons and professional creators.
The program of the first edition of the initiative, which is scheduled to be held annually, includes a set of discussion sessions on institution-building, the collection of works of art by influential professionals in the field of arts, and an introduction to the institutional holdings of A.R.M. Holding, with the aim of showing how modern institutions become an integral part of The creative scene in Dubai, as well as film screenings and visits to the collections of art patrons and ateliers of well-known artists residing in the UAE.
For her part, Benedita Guion, Executive Director of Art Dubai, said that “Dubai Collectibles Nights” is the first artistic initiative that brings together the “Dubai Collectibles” community to provide a variety of activities that allow the local public the opportunity to view the art collection and communicate with artists and patrons of arts in the emirate. Noting that the series of talks and discussions organized by the event highlight the voices and opinions of professional creators and art collectors who are committed to changing the landscape of collecting art collections at the institutional level.
Dubai Collectibles is based on the principle of partnership with sponsors who support it through an innovative system that allows them to lend works of art while maintaining their continued legal ownership. The artworks are selected and approved by an independent organizing committee. The public can enjoy all the artworks and find information about the artists and sponsors, as well as the contributions of writers, researchers and academics, through the Dubai Collectibles digital museum.
The selected works of art within the “Dubai Collectibles” interact with topics related to the historical development of the Emirate of Dubai and the UAE, and reflect the values of openness, diversity and interdependence embodied in the spirit of Dubai and the Emirates. Despite its focus on the spirit and history of the UAE and the region, Dubai Collectibles is a global collection without geographical restrictions that currently represents artists from more than 40 countries.
