The Government is preparing to reform and simplify licensing in terms of urban planning and land use, with the aim of making more housing available at an affordable price. The measures, which are part of the More Housing legislative package, are about to be discussed in the Assembly of the Republic, but raise several doubts for specialists in the sector. The engineers draw attention to the Government’s intention to exempt the vast majority of low voltage installations from electrical projects, a proposal which, in their view, will create “very serious consequences” on the quality and safety of new housing, even creating a “risk of fires and explosions”.
