Experts have defined the best TOP-3 diesel crossovers

Despite the sensational scandals associated with diesel engines and the subsequent persecution of this type of engine, the diesel is considered the most optimal for SUVs and large crossovers. There is good traction and moderate fuel consumption, which is why an SUV with such engines is still in service. The Autonews of the day have learned from the experts that type of life-size crossover with a diesel engine deserve special attention. The models with the most interesting engines have entered the corresponding TOP-3.

3rd place – Audi Q7 45 TDI quattro

A large German crossover is offered in our market with an excellent 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 249 horsepower in order to reduce taxes. With the volume not larger, this unit has a high torque of 600 Nm, available in the range from 1 to 30,000 min.

The dynamic features of the Audi Q7 in this version are very worthy. So before the "hundred" the crossover accelerates in less than 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 225 kilometers at the moment. The four owner wheel drive system helps to demonstrate good car dynamics.

2nd place: Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d 4Matic

The Stuttgart luxury crossover boasts an excellent equipment with a fully digital dashboard and other fine options. Under the hood of the car is a powerful 4.0-liter turbodiesel, which has a capacity of 330 horses. This unit cannot be called particularly "basic", since the peak of maximum power drops to almost 4 thousand revolutions per minute.

Overclocking at a hundred, this Mercedes is noticeably faster than the aforementioned Audi Q7. Thus, the GLE 400d only needs 5.7 seconds to do so. The efficient starting from the place is promoted by an efficient "automatic" and by the presence of the 4Matic all-wheel drive. At the same time, fuel consumption is about 7.5 liters per 100 km.

1st place – BMW X5 M50d xDrive

The most dynamic and generally sporty crossover in our ranking. It would seem that diesel is not the best choice for lovers of fast driving, but not in this case. The BMW X5 M50d is powered by a straight-line 6-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine that delivers 400 horsepower at a volume of 3.0 liters.

The torque indicators are no less impressive: 760 Nm, available in a wide range of speeds. The xDrive all-wheel drive lets you take full advantage of the engine's potential, so the crossover only takes 5.2 seconds to accelerate up to 100 km / h. The maximum speed reaches 250 km / h. No less satisfied with the moderate appetite of the engine – about 7.5 liters.

Modern diesel cars are breaking the obsolete notions of diesel engines, as they are low-speed, noisy units that smoke more than they drive. Today these engines not only emit a lot of power, but also have good environmental compatibility.
