Alberto Núñez Feijóo continues his round of contacts ahead of his investiture attempt, on September 26. The leader of the PP will meet on Tuesday with the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal. This was announced by the latter in a statement and later confirmed by PP sources.
“After seeing the second force we see the third. It is the logical sequence,” explain management sources popular. Feijóo met with the general secretary of the PSOE and acting president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, last Wednesday. In that meeting he offered him a series of State pacts that, according to the PP, are still valid for the rest of the parties. It happens that Vox flatly rejects an alliance of PP and PSOE and wants to prioritize its agenda.
In any case, the meeting of the two main leaders of the right takes place at a favorable moment for their relations, after closing their agreement for governability in Murcia, after many tug of wars and after Vox has announced that it will support Feijóo at his investiture in exchange for public recognition.
This was recognized by Feijóo himself in his recent interview with THE WORLD: “We with Vox have deep discrepancies, but I must admit that I have valued, and very much, the fact that Vox is willing to support the investiture without entering the Government and without asking for more than respecting the Constitution“.
And he didn’t want to just stay there. “That is a gesture from the third political force in my country that I have to recognize. It is unquestionable. The 11 million votes that Vox and the PP have obtained deserved a majority that I am going to continue working on in the future. I am not pessimistic On the contrary,” he added.
