In recent weeks, a drug, until now unknown to most of society but very popular in hospitals, has begun to make headlines. All because of the epidemic of overdoses and deaths that is causing throughout the United States.

So much so, that the American authorities have begun to install what they have called “opioid rescue kit” next to defibrillators and fire extinguishers to save the life of someone who has suffered an overdose.

Not at all. The fentanyl was first developed in 1960 and has been used for decades in Spanish hospitals to treat acute pain in certain cases.

I also know dispensed in pharmaciesalways under strict controls, so that certain patients who suffer severe pain that does not allow them to lead a normal life can improve their daily lives.

Fentanyl is an opioid that is synthesized in the laboratory and which is, according to various studies, some one hundred times more powerful than morphine.
