Scuderia Ferrari is "evaluating new concepts", some of which led to the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend, says Team Principal Mattia Binotto.
The Prancing Horse has introduced a new specification engine in advance of the Spanish Grand Prix program, but the move proved futile when it was overtaken by Mercedes and probably wrong on the strategy.
Having had another two days of testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in the official post-race test, Ferrari believes the 2019 tires, characterized by a thinner tread, have played a role in its difficulties.
Speaking after the race, Binotto expressed the need to conduct "appropriate analyzes and try to understand the question of balance, the issue of downforce and perhaps even tire concepts".
While the works are underway again at its Maranello base, Ferrari will still present updates in the Principality.
"The tests of last week in Barcelona and the analyzes carried out in Maranello have confirmed how much the tires of this year, which are very different from those of 2018, require different mechanical and aerodynamic settings to function properly," said Binotto.
"We are already working in Maranello to evaluate new concepts, in addition to bringing some initial updates here".
Meanwhile, Ferrari Haas and Alfa Romeo teams have confirmed that they will use the engine of the new specifications this weekend.
The practice in Monaco starts this evening at 1900 AEST.
