The exact cause of the fire that devastated the Pieces Fontaine business in Victoriaville on Monday evening has not yet been determined, but the criminal thesis would have been ruled out.
“For the moment, the investigation tends to show that it would not be a question of arson. However, the exact cause of the fire cannot be determined. The investigation is continuing into the causes and circumstances of this event in collaboration with the partners,” said Sergeant Valérie Beauchamp of the Media Relations Department of the Sûreté du Québec.
An investigator was assigned to the file and a fire scene technician analyzed the scene on Wednesday.
The fire, it should be remembered, broke out shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday. As soon as they arrived, the firefighters faced an imposing blaze which mobilized about sixty firefighters from Victoriaville, Princeville, Warwick and the Régie Incentraide.
Extinguishing work continued for about fifteen hours.
