Five people, including two children, have died and several have been injured in a popular tourist town in the Australia rural after a car plowed into a crowd of patrons on the front lawn of a bar, authorities said Monday.
Four people died at the scene of the accident on Sunday night in Daylesfordabout 110 km northwest of Melbournereported the state police Victoria. And a girl who was taken by helicopter to a hospital died there shortly afterward.
Chief Constable Shane Patton explained during a press conference that an SUV went over a curb and then crossed a grassy area. opposite the Royal Daylesford Hotel. “There were a large number of people there at the time, at the tables… The vehicle hit those tables and those people,” Patton said.
