Flensburg wins top game in Mannheim

Dhe German handball champion SG Flensburg-Handewitt can gradually chill the drinks for the successful title defense. The team of coach Maik Machulla won on Easter Sunday the top match at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen with 26:23 (12: 8) and thus remains at the top of the table four points ahead of pursuer THW Kiel.

Flensburg had the game in Mannheim, except for a small period of weakness in the middle of the second half safely under control. In the 39th minute, the guests already led with 17:12, but had to endure some uncertainties just eight minutes later, the 20:20. However, the lions did not manage to capitalize on it and fell back on their own mistakes.

National player Jannik Kohlbacher and lion director Andy Schmid were the most successful pitchers of the hosts with five goals each. Göran Johannessen also scored five goals for SG Flensburg-Handewitt, who had a secure support in goalkeeper Benjamin Buric.

At the other end of the table, the air for the SG BBM Bietigheim meanwhile thinner and thinner. The climber lost in his own hall against GWD Minden with 26:30 (12:16) and remains penultimate. The SC DHfK Leipzig got some air through the 32:29 (17:17) at the TVB Stuttgart.
