Tyler Perry has joined the growing list of Hollywood billionaires according to Forbes. According to the US business magazine, the actor has a net worth of $ 1 billion and has earned more than $ 1.4 billion in pre-tax income since 2005.
Forbes also said the filmmaker owns all of his creative production, which includes more than 1,200 television episodes, 22 films, at least two dozen plays and a 330-acre studio in Atlanta. The filmmaker told the magazine he learned the property’s value early on. He added :
“My father was a contractor, he was paid on Friday and was so happy that he had won $ 800, ”he reminded Forbes. “But I watched the man who owned the house sell it and earn $ 80,000. So I always knew that there was more power in the man who owned the house than in the one who worked there and built it. So I always wanted to be the owner of the house. “For me it was easy to own because I was underestimated. They told me : “Of course you can own it”. They didn’t think it was worth anything.“
The mogul joins a group of black billionaires that includes Robert F. Smith, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, David Stewart, Jay-Z and maybe Kanye West. It has also been reported that his films alone have grossed nearly $ 1 billion to date, and that he owns the rights to all of those films.
