Formula 1 | Alfa Romeo F1: Vasseur wants to integrate Kubica into the organization chart

Frédéric Vasseur would like to offer Robert Kubica a more important role within Alfa Romeo F1. The director of the Sauber team, which drives under the colors of the Italian manufacturer, does not yet know how to integrate the Polish driver into the organization chart, but is actively thinking about it.

“I hope so. But I don’t know what position he could be in. I trust him, although it’s not always easy to deal with him, but that’s normal for a racing driver” assures Vasseur.

“For Sauber, Robert was probably one of the most iconic guys because he won a race in Canada. He’s been with us for a few years now and I would like to find a solution for a possible collaboration in the future. But I don’t have any ideas yet.”

Vasseur assures that Kubica should not be seen only as a representative for his sponsor Orlen: “He’s not the sponsor, after all. Of course, we have to be aware that it’s important to Orlen that Robert is somehow involved and part of the team.”

“But he does a great job. He has very strong technical feedback and for us it’s always good to have a different perspective on what we’re doing. Also, he’s always constructive when he makes a free practice session.

Kubica is “a very special man”

The French leader also recalls that Kubica responded perfectly to his team’s call to replace Kimi Räikkönen last year, in Italy and the Netherlands: “In these two exceptional situations he proved his class. At Zandvoort we only told him to drive the car on Saturday morning.”

“I remember he fought with [Sebastian] Vettel for 10 laps and overtook him as well. It was a superb performance. For me, he’s special because I’ve spent most of my career with Robert and fought alongside him.”

“When I was at Renault, I asked him to come to Renault and drive single-seaters again. I first gave him the opportunity to test the simulator because I was convinced, and I still am. , that Robert is a very special man.”
