Francisco de Manuel picked up this Saturday XXXVII José Cubero ‘Yiyo’ Trophy that Bullfighting Peña ‘El Rescoldo’ of Old Apiary awarded to the winner of the Colmenar Viejo Remedy Fair.
The jury of the club decided by an absolute majority to award the trophy to De Manuel for his triumphant performance on the afternoon of August 29, leaving the sixth bull on his shoulders after a great task. Zacarías Moreno, whom he plucked. The bullfighter, a resident of Colmenar Viejo, received the prestigious award from the town’s Bullfighting Affairs Councilor, Felipe Mansilla.
At the same event, which was attended, among others, by the managing director of Bullfighting Affairs of the Community of Madrid, Miguel Abellán, of the mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Carlos Blazquez and the businessman of the square, Carlos Zuniga, was also delivered XXXV ‘Toros de Colmenar’ trophy, to the best specimen of the Fair, which on this occasion was for ‘Ragged‘, from the livestock of Exc. Mr. Conde de Mayalde, marked with the number 14 and fought in sixth place on August 28 and of which Alejandro Talavante walked an ear. The trophy was collected by the rancher Rafael Finat.
The Colmenareño subaltern Juan Carlos Rey was also recognized «for his outstanding performances at the fair, a reflection of his great season and rising career as a silver bullfighter.
Within an emotional gala in which the figure of Jorge Garciamayor of Colmenar Viejo between 2016 and 2023, a great defender of the Festival and of local bullfighters and ranches, and who recently died after a traffic accident, the Bullfighting Peña ‘El Rescoldo’ honored a veteran member, Roman Gomez, who received thanks for his loyalty as part of the association for 50 years, 23 of them being part of the board of directors.
