FrankfurtAt Frankfurt Airport, a new daily record of dispatched passengers was reached last month. On 30 June, the first Sunday in the summer holidays in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, 241,228 people used the largest German airport, surpassing the previous record of nearly 238,000 on 29 July 2018.
Overall, in June, the number of passengers increased compared to the same month last year by 3.4 percent to just under 6.6 million, as the operator Fraport on Friday announced further. This was also an increase in flight movements by 1.4 percent to just under 46,000 takeoffs and landings connected. The volume of freight, on the other hand, fell by 4.7 per cent to 174,400 tonnes.
In the first half of the year, the increase in Frankfurt is now 3.0 percent to 33.6 million passengers. This is within the framework of the Fraport expectations for Germany's largest airport, which is currently working at the limits of its capacities. Relief is to bring a third passenger terminal, of which the first sub-areas in 2021 should be available.
