The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, announced on Wednesday new measures to try to contain the advance of the fifth wave of the pandemic. On this occasion, the restrictions have two very clear objectives: the hotel industry and the meetings of non-cohabitants.
In the case of hospitality, the focus is on the Galician areas with a high or maximum incidence. There, the nightlife will be closed obligatorily and to access the interior of the premises, bars and restaurants, it would be required well a negative PCR made in the last hours, well a certificate of having passed COVID-19 or the certificate of having completed the vaccination schedule.
Among his cabals, he entered close, directly, although it was discarded. “We can no longer punish the hospitality industry by closing and that is why we leave them open”, but with strong limitations, in the style of what is being experienced in France or Portugal. “It is the most appropriate formula to weather this situation.”
These measures come into effect this Saturday. On the other hand, and in order to restrict meetings in homes, Feijoó has requested authorization from the Superior Court of Justice of Galicia (TSXG), since his idea is only allow 6 non-living together indoors and 10 outdoors. “It is not pleasant, but the situation is what it is,” he considered.
Night meetings, prohibited in high incidence areas
“We cannot continue to see images of bottles,” commented the regional president. The truth is that in those areas with a high or maximum incidence, meetings of non-partners between 01.00 and 06.00 are, directly, prohibited, as long as you get the endorsement of Justice.
The justification, for President Feijoó, is that “at this point we still have no pandemic law and we see problems in several communities. Evolution is bad and new measures must be taken. It is not easy or pleasant and I apologize to the people that we cannot vaccinate, “he complained.
Concerts, allowed and unlimited mobility
“It is a discrimination that we cannot justify. There are no vaccines and we cannot give what we do not have“He added, to continue:” If there were vaccines, in less than two weeks we would all be vaccinated in two weeks and before the end of August all Galicians would achieve immunity “.
As to musical concerts are still allowed as long as they take place outdoors, with distance and mask and seated. “They are already limited, so they can be celebrated, there is no maximum risk,” Feijoó has admitted.
On the other hand, the perimeter closures are eliminated, so there is normality in mobility.
