Tue Tortzen, as chairman of the board of supply in Forsyningen, has made this post:
Hillerød must get on board with geothermal as soon as possible
Drilling for geothermal heat is now under way in Aarhus. In two years, the first heat will reach the customers and in 2028 approx. 20% of Aarhus’ district heating will be covered from the underground.
Therefore, Skanderborg and Holbæk have now ordered similar projects and many other cities with district heating are considering it.
In Hillerød (and most of North Zealand) we had seismic surveys done in 2012 which showed that there is plenty of warm water underground. Unfortunately, the project then stalled due to a lack of political support.
But we have the studies, and therefore Hillerød should now contact “Inergi” – the company behind the boreholes in Aarhus – and get a project started so that we can also get locally produced, cheap, co2 neutral district heating as soon as possible.
It will take a few years to get the design and construction working – in the meantime, we can expand the district heating network so that the heat we cannot use ourselves can be sold on to other utility companies.
Sincerely, Tue Tortzen City council member, Enhedslisten Hillerød
