German police are investigating the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann since Tuesday morning, digging in a garden near Hanover. The area is completely cordoned off, German writes media.
Details on why this location is searched are not given. According to the Hannoversche Zeitung an excavator used.
The child disappeared from a holiday resort in Portugal in 2007, where she was on holiday with her parents. Her parents had gone out for dinner a little further and were suspects in the investigation for a while.
Christian Brückner, a convicted child molester who is currently in prison, was recently identified as the prime suspect. Several quests have taken place in recent weeks. For example, the Portuguese police searched wells.
The German prosecutor previously said at a press conference that it is suspected that the toddler is no longer alive. The case is officially being treated as a murder case.
