The finale of “Germany's Next Top Model” began on Thursday evening in Düsseldorf with an acrobatics show by Cirque du Soleil. It ended about three hours later with the announcement of the winner: Simone Hartseil has prevailed against her two remaining rivals. The 21-year-old won the 14th season of Heidi Klum's ProSieben show.
Hartseil was in the course of the season as the favorite for the supermodel title. The student will now receive a model contract, a prize money of 100,000 euros and will be featured on the cover of the German edition of the fashion magazine “Harper's Bazaar”.
“I worked so hard for this day,” said Hartseil. With the victory her second dream came true – after the dream of an Olympiad acceptance had burst because of health problems. Also in the “GNTM” final Simone fought small accidents and broke right at the beginning of the show. “When you fall down, I've learned to keep getting up,” she said.
In the final were three candidates. The first was Cäcilia eliminated, in second place was Sayana.
Gottschalk: “For me it's all big kids carnival here”
Shortly before the beginning of the live spectacle in the ISS Dome Klum had announced as a surprise guest the US pop singer Taylor Swift. However, she did not perform live, but there was Swift in the rehearsed vocal performance. Other guests included the band Tokio Hotel, Tyra Banks, Channing Tatum, the Jonas Brothers and Ellie Goulding. Thomas Gottschalk was also in Dusseldorf: “For me, this is all great children's carnival here,” he said.
Klum and Tokyo hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz announced their engagement in December. Since then it is speculated when and where they marry. Klum fueled the speculation to start the show again. “Maybe someone marries here today,” she said in front of about 9000 spectators in the hall. “That's where Tokio Hotel comes in. I'm looking forward to it most of all.”
In fact, then before the eyes of Klum as a master of ceremonies, the previously retired “GNTM” participant Theresia and her friend Thomas gave the vow.
