British actress Honor Blackman is dead. She became world-famous in the 1960s for her role in the James Bond film “Goldfinger”.
Honor Blackman’s family announced the news of her death on Monday in the London daily newspaper “The Guardian”. Blackman had died naturally in her home in Sussex with her children and grandchildren, it said. There was therefore no connection with the corona virus. Born in London, she was 94 years old.
World famous as a bond girl
In 1964, Blackman played alongside Bond actor Sean Connery as pilot Pussy Galore, who initially worked for villain Goldfinger (Gert Fröbe), but then sided with 007. The name Pussy (in German: Muschi) caused a scandal at the time. Many fans still consider “Goldfinger” one of the best films in the long-standing Bond series.
Blackman had previously become known to a wider audience through the British TV series “With Umbrella, Charm and Melon”, in which she played alongside Patrick Macnee. She also had other roles in theater productions such as “My Fair Lady” or “Cabaret”. The well-known TV presenter Piers Morgan wrote: “A wonderful actress and my favorite of all bond girls.”
