O prime minister said today that the Government will start from the end of next week the process to launch an economic and social emergency program with the objective to give a structured response to the crisis.
António Costa referred to this Government measure in an interview he gave to CMTV, at the Prime Minister’s official residence in São Bento, which was conducted by journalist José Carlos Castro.
“Between the end of next week and the beginning of the next, we will start consultations for the design of an economic and social emergency program”, said the executive’s leader in that interview, which lasted about 35 minutes.
The Prime Minister said that, over the past two months, the Government has been obliged to “reinvent many things, from simplifying the lay-off regime to creating moratoriums and new lines of credit “.
“Now, I think we started to arrive that phase in which one can have greater solidity in the scenario of the evolution of the economy and in designing concrete measures to quickly stop the hemorrhage, revive companies, consolidate employment and lay the foundations for an economic recovery program when there are conditions to be launched “he added.
