James Gunn has confirmed that a separate Rocket and Groot movie was originally going to be made. Also in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 we will see Jennifer Holland and Judy Greer.
The premiere of the superhero movie is fast approaching Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Thanks to interviews with actors and creators, there are more and more interesting information about the production and the cast. Recall that there were plans for a short film with Rocket and Groot, but Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige decided that it was “too much” for the studio and the idea was abandoned before it entered the development phase. James Gunnwho was behind the camera of the final part of the adventures of Peter Quill and his companions, in an interview with io9 confirmed that there was supposed to be a spin-off about these heroes before it turned into Guardians of the Galaxy 3. He admitted that Rocket’s story was reserved for the third installment.
I always thought it would be the third movie because we had to tell Peter Quill’s story first, and then move on to Rocket’s story. I think the only question was whether it would be a Rocket and Groot movie or not Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Originally, I was going to make it as a movie just about them.
Gunn added that he has always considered Rocket to be the “secret protagonist” of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
In addition, we got confirmation of two actresses who will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 3. The first one is Judy Greerthat MCU fans know from the first two Ant-Man movies. She played the role of Maggie Lang, the ex-wife of the main character. In Gunn’s production, he will play another character called War Pig. This creature is one of the High Evolutionary’s henchmen and will be in conflict with the Guardians.
In addition to Judy Greer, we will also see in the film Jennifer Holland, who in private life is married to James Gunn. This will be her debut in the MCU. She plays Administrator Kwol – a character who briefly appears on the screen at the beginning of the production.
