The European Space Agency (ESA) and Roscosmos have tested the prototype of the future rover for the ExoMars mission. Tests have been conducted to test the navigation software.

Recall that ExoMars ("ExoMars") is a program of exploration of Mars, in which the ExoMars 2016 mission was launched in 2016.
Now the company's engineers are preparing to launch a new mission, which includes the migrating unit, the downhill vehicle and the rover. Recently, a smaller version of the ExoMars Testing Rover rover has been tested in conditions close to the Martian ones. The tests took place in a specially prepared location in the ESA laboratory in the center of the Netherlands.
It is important to check how the device behaves in the new location. Once on Mars, the rover will have to find places to drill up to two meters deep – to look for traces of life that may have existed on this planet in the past, – reported on the mission website.
The launch of the mission is scheduled for July 2020. It is assumed that the launch will take place at the Baikonur cosmodrome with the help of the Proton-M launch vehicle. According to the calculations, the mission is to get to Mars in March 2021.
