TIJUANA.- The confinement because of the Covid-19 has led to an increase in the bad food, given that consuming products type junk is cheaper and more practical than food of the basic basket, regretted the physician surgeon specialist in human nutrition, Jose Bruno Roldan Melo.
Despite the fact that the obesity has been a condition that Mexico has fought for years, the expert explained that the body has tried to adapt to these changes, even to the point that an average weight in relation to height is six kilos more compared to a few generations ago, which entails a diet of more calories daily.
For this reason, and with the aim to satiate the appetite, the doctor indicated that some foods, such as beans or lentils, they are often not as effective as the sweet bread, that piece is relatively cheap. However, the latter contains a considerable amount of flour and fat that, combined with the lack of exercise, heading to a number of conditions such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes.
It therefore recommended that the extent of the possibilities of each family is to return to the natural diet and less industrialized. Suggested that is “eat breakfast like a king, eat like a prince and avoid the dinner”, in addition to that in order to measure the portions, you can resort to the principle that it is enough food that fits in the palm of the hand. Considers that the ravages of the pandemic also obey that already was crawling with a serious weight problem in the population.
“The main recommendation is that the more natural the food, the better. The tendency is to not eat so many things packaged, do not eat so many things that are sausages because this is what leads us more to obesity,” he said.
In that sense, he emphasized on the change of habits with the overweight, “you already have a reserve of energy sufficient to deal with the process.”
