The infarction is an occlusion or a threat of occlusion of one of the arteries of the heart. It is manifested by a pain in the chest which appears suddenly. Unless there are complications, the infarction does not lead to loss of consciousness. Heart pain can radiate into the shoulder, arm, and jaw. It is for this reason that it is sometimes called “angina pectoris”: some people have a sore throat.
What about cardiac arrest?
Cardiac arrest refers to a loss of the contracting function of the heart. The most common cause of cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disorder. And more particularly, “ventricular fibrillation”; that is, the complete disorganization of the electrical activity of the heart.
