It’s one of the soap operas that animated the winter transfer window. For several weeks, Hertha Berlin has been trying to snatch Lucas Tousart (22) from Olympique Lyonnais. The German club, which is once again aiming for the summits in the Bundesliga, has spared no effort in recruiting the Rhone midfielder. By the end of December, the Hertha had drawn up an initial offer estimated at 20 million euros. Proposal rejected by OL leaders, who valued their international Espoirs at 30 million euros.
Far from giving up, the German formation continued discussions with Jean-Michel Aulas for several days, before submitting a new offer. An unsuccessful move, since the high rhodanian spheres still failed the residents of the Olympiastadion. The Lyon position seemed complex to change. This was based on the sporting aspect, and the interest of the institution to maintain its midfield.
Lucas Tousart will end the season in Lyon
But by dint of persevering, the Hertha Berlin knew how to win the bet and finalize a file which was dangerously long. To convince OL, Hertha made a final offer estimated at 25 million euros. In parallel, the former Valenciennois will remain in the Rhône until next June in the form of a loan.
“Olympique Lyonnais has informed of the transfer of Lucas Tousart to Hertha Berlin for an amount of € 25 million. However, the hopeful international midfielder will remain at OL until the end of the 2019/2020 season, in the form of a loan “, can be read on the press release published by OL. The Rhone club therefore performs an excellent sporting and financial operation.
