Elon Musk's SpaceX has postponed the scheduled launch night of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying the first group of satellites for its new Starlink Internet service.

On Wednesday the company cited an excessive wind on the Florida launch site.

The mission's launch was rescheduled for 12.30pm (AEST) on Friday from Cape Canaveral's Air Force station, SpaceX said.
