Historic victory for Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores

The Brazilian Palmeiras wins a historic victory in the Libertadores Cup of South American football, at the expense of the Bolivian Independiente Petrolero.

The Brazilian Palmeiras defeated the Bolivian Independiente Petrolero, at dawn today, Wednesday, achieving the largest victory in its history in the Copa Libertadores.

Palmeiras won (8-1), the title holder in the last two seasons of the continental championship.

Palmeiras played the match, celebrating the return of his fans to the “Allianz Arena” in Sao Paulo, after they were absent for two years due to the Corona pandemic.

After the guests opened the scoring in the sixth minute, the host pounced on the Bolivian team, scoring eight goals, including a four by young Rafael Navarro from Botafogo and a double by Rafael Vega.

Palmeiras won its victory in the absence of its suspended coach, Abel Ferreira, and a group of players who were given a period of rest.

Palmeiras won the continental title 3 times in 1999, 2021 (the 2020 edition) and 2021, while the Argentine Independiente holds the record for 7 titles, the last of which was in 1984.
