The Princess of Asturias will turn 18 on October 31, and little by little the details are being finalized for that day, which will have three locations of interest and will be the most special in the life of the Heiress. While the maintenance staff of the Congress of Deputies is already adapting the Lower House to host the solemn ceremony, a press release has been distributed with the details of that first appointment on October 31.
The Royal Family will arrive at Carrera de San Jerónimo at eleven in the morning. They will do it escorted by the Royal Guard Squadron, just like when they arrive at the parade on October 12. At the door you will find the Honors Battalion and four companies from the Army, Navy, Air and Civil Guard armies forming. They will be received by the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Chief of the Defense Staff (JEMAD), Teodoro Esteban López Calderón. From the podium, the King will receive military honors and will then review the Honors Battalion. The president of the Congress of Deputies, Francina Armengol, and the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán, will receive the Royal Family and the acting President of the Government at the foot of the steps of the Congress Palace.
Next, the Royal Family, preceded by the presidents of both Chambers, will enter the Queen’s Hall through the Lions Gate, where they will greet the presidents of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde Pumpidoand of the General Council of the Judiciary, the member Vicente Guilarte. In the Hall of Lost Steps, the Kings and their daughters will greet the members of the Congress and Senate Boards and everyone will enter the Chamber.
Once inside the chamber, from which the seats are being removed, other chairs and a National Heritage tapestry are being placed, the event will be the same as the one in which Felipe VI starred in 1986 and the Constitution that the King used in his Proclamation in 2014, as ABC has announced.
The solemn session will begin with the interpretation of the anthem national and then the president of Congress will read a speech that will include the reference to the agreement adopted by the Council of Ministers on October 10, 2023, which requests the holding of the joint session of the chambers for the taking of the oath referred to in article 61 of the Constitution by the Crown Princess.
