The victim, in his 50s, was killed by four masked men in retaliation for the victims killing their father 35 years ago. In the 1980s a bloody fight broke out between the two families, in which the then 15-year-old victim killed the father of the four masked men.
In some parts of Egypt, particularly in Upper Egypt, the tradition of revenge killings, also called blood feuds, required a man to take revenge for the murder of his father or brother by killing the killer.
Police investigations revealed that the victim was killed by a barrage of bullets by four masked men while he was walking on a side street in Giza. Investigations found that the four gunmen armed with automatic rifles suddenly appeared and opened fire on the victim before fleeing the scene.
Citing reports Gulf News, Sunday (18/7/2021), a manhunt is being carried out by police officers to arrest the perpetrators who have been identified. An investigation is being carried out by the prosecutor’s office. The identities of the victims and the shooters have not been released.
