It is the first time the Princess of Wales has visited the regiment since becoming an honorary colonel following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. She succeeded her husband, Prince William, whom King Charles III appointed Colonel of the Welsh Guards.
The snow obviously didn’t stop her. Dressed in a military jacket, she took part in the exercises and had a long talk with the soldiers.
The Princess also attended medical training and an accident evacuation drill, as well as a briefing on explosive ordnance disposal. This is training currently being provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Photos of this snowy outing have been shared on the official accounts of the Prince and Princess of Wales. “A snowy morning with the Irish Guards on Salisbury Plain! Their work is as extensive as it is exemplary, from training rangers to combat poaching in East Africa to demining training for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. It was fantastic to be with them today and see their hard work (regardless of the weather!),” the caption read.
