In front of Jokowi, Luhut: Today Ministers and Regional Heads Forget Politics

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -In front of President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said presidential assistants and regional heads continue to work to increase the absorption of domestic products (PDN). This effort is made so that the state can reduce dependence on import spending and improve the local product ecosystem.

“So the teamwork from the Minister of Home Affairs (Minister of Home Affairs), Menparekraf (Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy), Mr. Teten (Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki), Mr. Anas (Banyuwangi Regent Azwar Anas), the regents and governors are extraordinary. They all love this republic because they also see opportunities to create jobs,” said Luhut in the Affirmation Action Proudly Made in Indonesia in Bali as shown on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, Friday, March 25, 2022.

Luhut explained that the ministries and agencies under his coordination had formed a team for Strengthening the Use of Domestic Products or P3DN. Currently, P3DN is spread across 25 ministries and institutions, 8 state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and 103 local governments.

With this program, Luhut estimates the contribution of spending State Budget and APBD for domestic products can reach Rp 400 trillion. This figure can be increased to Rp 500 trillion in spending in April.

Luhut estimates that the absorption of domestic products can boost economic growth. According to research from the Central Bureau of Statistics, if Rp 400 trillion of government spending is allocated for domestic products, this figure could encourage growth from 1.61 to 1.7 percent.

As a result, this achievement will create two million job opportunities. This action is also considered capable of creating demand for domestic products to strengthen supply through increasing capacity for industrial development and new investment as well as developing new products government marketplace as the main market.

Luhut claimed that because of the busyness of the action, ministers and regional heads forgot to do politics. “Maybe today they forgot about politics, sir. So they really want to make Indonesia better,” he said.
