“In March we will be able to have the vaccine in mass form”

The Minister of Health, Ginés González García, said today that Argentina will be able to count on a vaccine against the coronavirus next March “in a massive way”.

He also revealed that the country is in negotiations to have five of the seven or eight main vaccines against the pandemic.

“Among the seven or eight vaccines that are in the first line, we are negotiating with five of those. There are three that are doing phase 3 trials in our country, and one will be manufactured here. But the exact date is not known by the manufacturers themselves. , since they do not know when it will be approved, “the official explained.

“Only in March will we be able to have the vaccine en masse, but we will still vaccinate beforehand, as we have them,” the official said in radio statements.

The minister admitted that the coronavirus pandemic lasts longer than expected, for which he asked the population not to stop applying preventive care.

“We all thought that the pandemic in America would last a little, not like in Asia, but like in Europe but for some reason that is not explained much, -I at least I don’t have the explanation and I read everything there is – It is having an unexpected duration, in all America, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, “said González García.

The minister pointed out that the outbreak “continues to be persistent and continues to be a record without anyone knowing why,” while admitting that there is a version that the virus “has mutated to greater contagion.”

For the official, “the American continent continues to be the center of the pandemic and that unfortunately we have to take the measures that we have to take.”

On the other hand, he claimed the application of quarantine in Argentina, of which he said he was proud.

“If we had not done the initial quarantine, the consequences would be terrible, because we would be in situations that we never wanted. There would be people who could not have been treated with a much higher mortality rate. Things that outrage a society: as if someone could die without having the assistance you deserve, “he warned.
