In Novosibirsk, 13 schools were quarantined due to a measles epidemic. On February 22, 40 cases of infection were recorded in the region. All patients have not been vaccinated, most of them belong to a religious community that refuses vaccinations. This was stated by the deputy head of the Rospotrebnadzor in the Novosibirsk Lada Samoilova region.
According to Samoilova, all the infected were in touch with one another. Most cases of infection were in the Dzerzhinsky and Oktyabrsky districts of Novosibirsk. 34 people with measles are children. On February 22, nine children and five adults were in hospital. Four children have already been discharged.
In order to stop the spread of measles, doctors carry out "cleaning immunization", said the head infectologist of the region, Larisa Pozdnyakova. According to her, "there is a good level of measles vaccinated in the region – their number is close to 90%".
At the beginning of February, two measles centers were found in Moscow schools no. 1434 and n. 1797. In mid-February, one of the buildings of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Hitrovsky Lane was closed due to the quarantine measles. Thus, 477 students were suspended there because they did not provide a certificate for measles vaccinations.
