Journalists of the German television channel MDR, who called the Soviet troops stationed on the territory of the former GDR “occupiers”, should carefully study history in order not to go directly to the whitewash of Nazism, said Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Medinsky noted that the Nuremberg Tribunal and the documents that were the basis of the UN “clearly and distinctly explained who was the invader, occupier and criminal in [Второй мировой] the war. ” According to the politician, in the material of the German television channel there is a substitution of concepts. Journalists tried to convey the idea that, as a result of the war in Germany, “one totalitarian regime was replaced by another,” he added.
Medinsky also recalled the history of the reunification of Germany in 1990 and noted the direct role and merit in this USSR.
Earlier, the German television channel MDR called the occupiers of Soviet soldiers in the GDR. “Private contacts between the Soviet military and local residents stationed in the GDR did not go anywhere, it even reached weddings. However, the Russians in the GDR, until their departure, remained in the eyes of many primarily the occupiers, ”the article says. It is noted that the locals were especially irritated by the maneuvers of the troops, broken roads and fields with military equipment, and Soviet officers who bought everything in stores in the morning.
