MOSCOW, July 15 – RIA News. Russian parliamentarians commented on the statement of the former secretary of the National Council for Security and Defense of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov on the ability to destroy the Crimean bridge.
According to Turchinov, the Ukrainian "Neptune" cruise missiles could "demolish" the bridge in a few minutes.
As noted by the deputy of the State Duma Ruslan Balbeck, Kiev has not yet provided any evidence of Neptune's success. He recalled that the Ukrainian army has shown only missile launches.
The deputy stressed that such statements could damage the fragile contacts established between the two countries.
Senator Sergey Tsekov also responded to Turchinov's statement.
"The peninsula, like the bridge, is reliably protected: if something similar happens, which is unlikely, the Crimean bridge will not be affected, but the consequences for Ukraine will be the most deplorable," he concluded .
The bridge over the Kerch Strait connected the Crimea and the territory of Krasnodar. The overpass became the longest in Russia: the length of the bridge was 19 kilometers. Motorway traffic was launched half a year before the original term. The train movement will start in 2019.
