Iranian director Dariush Mehrjui and his wife were murdered by their former gardener over a debt of 600 euros

The Iranian director Dariush Mehrjui He was stabbed to death on October 15, along with his wife, by his former gardener due to a financial dispute, Iranian justice reported on Monday.

“The main suspect worked as a gardener in Mr. Mehrjui’s villa and was angry with him over financial issues,” explained the head of justice of the province of Alborznear Tehran, Hossein Fazeli-Harikandi. According to him, the director owed 300 million rials (about 600 euros) to his former employee.

The news of Mehrjui’s death has had a lot of impact in Iran since he was the pioneer of the advent of Iranian cinema. He was stabbed at the age of 83 along with his wife Vahideh Mohammadifara 54-year-old screenwriter, at his home in Karaj, west of the Iranian capital.

A total of four people are involved in this murder. They entered the villa and the former gardener punched and then stabbed Dariush Mehrjui in the neck while he was watching television. According to the courts, his wife was murdered in her bedroom.
