President Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi will visit Indonesia on Tuesday (23/5) and Wednesday (24/5) to meet the President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
In an official statement, the Iranian Embassy in Jakarta stated that this visit was an invitation from the number one person in Indonesia.
“His Excellency Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, at the official invitation of His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, will pay a visit to Jakarta from 23 to 24 May 2023,” said the statement. CNNIndonesia.comMonday (22/5).
The visit was aimed at strengthening the cooperation between the two countries which had existed since 1950. According to the statement, until now Iran-Indonesia relations have been very friendly in recent years.
Indonesia and Iran, he continued, also continued to expand cooperation in the political, economic and cultural fields.
During this visit, the two leaders are expected to exchange views. The two countries are also reported to be signing a number of cooperation agreements.
The cooperation includes energy, pharmaceutical and health products, food products, customs cooperation, bilateral trade facilitation, science and technology, and culture.
In addition to meeting Jokowi, Raisi will also meet the Chair of the Indonesian Parliament and the Chair of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly.
He will also meet scholars, thinkers, lecturers and
students to business people in Indonesia.
The Iranian embassy also stated that Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, is considered to have cultural and civilizational similarities with Iran, has a significant capacity for cooperation in various fields, especially conflicts that hit the international political system.
“Indonesia is a country that has a special position in the minds of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially with the geographic location of the Republic of Indonesia which is at the heart of international transportation and trade routes in the East Asia region and ASEAN countries,” the statement continued.

In leading Iran, Raisi carried out active diplomacy and took a new approach to foreign policy.
The slogan for the new approach was “balanced, intelligent and dynamic.” As a manifestation of that approach, Raisi visited more than 10 countries to expand cooperation.
Some of the countries Raisi visited were Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Russia, Qatar, China and Syria.
In addition, Raisi also received state visits from leaders and senior officials from various world countries, such as Syria, Turkey, Belarus and Iraq.
